Jake Siegel was born and raised in Brooklyn. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Capital New York, and elsewhere. His short story "Smile, There are IEDs Everywhere" appears in Fire and Forget: Short Stories From The Long War, an anthology of fiction written by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, published by Da Capo in February 2013.
