A convicted drug dealer serving time in Orange County, California, claimed to be a celebrant of Festivus, a holiday popularized on a famous episode of Seinfeld, and demanded kosher meals. Malcom Alarmo King reportedly does not care for the typical salami fare served at the jail, and his request for salami-free meals was met for two months before the order was thrown out in court. Though Festivus celebrants typically engage in such practices as the airing of grievances, and the displaying of the traditional Festivus aluminum pole, according to Seinfeld, keeping kosher is not among the holiday’s tenets.
