Jim Ed Brown, a Grand Ole Opry veteran of more than 50 years and a member of country music trio The Browns died Thursday at the age or 81. He and his sisters Maxine and Bonnie topped Billboard’s country chart for 10 consecutive weeks in 1959 with their hit song “The Three Bells”; they were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in March. Brown was diagnosed with lung cancer in September.
