We finally have a winner in Connecticut: Democrat Dan Malloy has been declared the victor in the state's gubernatorial race, scraping by his Republican opponent Tom Foley by just 5,637 votes. Malloy, a former mayor of Stamford, will become the state’s first Democratic chief in 20 years. The decision was certified by Connecticut's secretary of state on Friday, ending days of uncertainty during which both Malloy and Foley had claimed victory. Malloy's victory was sealed when final votes were counted in Bridgeport, the state's biggest city, where a shortage of ballots on Tuesday forced the polls to remain open for an extra two hours.
