Chaka Fattah Jr. was convicted on Thursday of 22 counts in connection with a schemed that would have defrauded banks, the IRS and the Philadelphia School District. Accorcing to the allegations, Fattah Jr. made false statements to banks to get loans, filed false income tax returns, and stole from the school district, using the money to fund a lavish lifestyle. His father, Democratic Rep. Chaka Fattah, is set to face his own federal trial in May on corruption charges stemming from an alleged racketeering conspiracy.
