It may not be in the news as much, but Democratic leaders are still hammering out health-care reform. There’s still no deal, but Democratic leaders are “close” on agreeing how to raise revenue to pay for the $900 billion bill, says House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY). House and Senate leaders had been split on the best method—the House wanted to tax the wealthy, while the Senate wanted to tax so-called Cadillac plans—and without specifying, Rangel said that the agreement was a combination of their proposals. The tax portion of the bill could be ready by Friday.
