News Corp.'s $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association certainly hasn't done much to dispel the myth that Fox News is an "arm" of the Republican party. On Wednesday Nathan Daschle, leader of the Democratic Governors Association and son of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, wrote a letter to Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes requesting that the network disclose the recent controversial donation: "In the interest of some fairness and balance, I request that you add a formal disclaimer to your coverage any time any of your programs covers governors or gubernatorial races between now and Election Day," he requested, going so far as to suggest that the disclaimer go a little something like this: "News Corp., parent company of Fox News, provided $1 million to defeat Democratic governors in November." Daschle demands that the network should return the money altogether if it fails to act accordingly. After the donation was publicized, News Corp. spokesman Jack Horner swept to the company's defense, insisting that it was "patently false that a corporate donation would have any bearing on our news-gathering activities at Fox News or any other of our properties."
