Senate Democrats are rushing to get the 60 votes they need to break a filibuster of Harry Reid’s new debt ceiling plan in time for the 1 a.m. vote Sunday. Meanwhile the House is expected to vote on—and reject—Reid’s old plan at 2:15 this afternoon. Reid’s new plan raises the debt ceiling in two stages, like John Boehner’s plan that the Senate rejected yesterday, but it gives President Obama power to raise the ceiling a second time without congressional approval, allowing Republicans to formally disapprove of it.
