Dick Ebersol is leaving NBC Sports after running programming since 1989. Ebersol says he was unable to come to an agreement on a new contract, but his resignation comes amidst rumors that he has been clashing with his new Comcast bosses, who took over NBC several months ago. Ebersol oversaw NBC’s acquiring of rights to more Olympics than any other network, but the network took a $223 million loss on the 2010 Vancouver games. That loss and Ebersol’s departure raise questions about how aggressive Comcast will be in acquiring rights to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia or the 2016 Summer Games in Brazil.
