CHEAT SHEET
TOP 10 RIGHT NOW
Just weeks after a cheating scandal in Georgia public schools came to light, other districts have come under scrutiny. That includes Washington, D.C., schools under Michelle Rhee, who was chancellor of the system from 2007 to 2010 and is one of the country’s most visible education reformers. A confidential memo, which newly came to light on Thursday, suggests cheating problems implicating up to 191 teachers in 70 schools. Now critics are suggesting Rhee ignored her own cheating scandal, which may have contributed to the school district’s rapid improvement after she took office. Whether she knew or not, this scandal will probably hurt for a long time.
