At least two people from the Mexican tour group that came under government fire in Egypt's Western Desert were dual U.S. citizens, the hospital treating them said. Egypt’s interior ministry said Monday that it security forces mistakenly killed 12 Mexican tourists when their four vehicles accidentally crossed into a restricted area in its western desert. Egyptian forces opened fire on the tourists while chasing “terrorist elements” late Sunday, according to a ministry statement. The ministry said 10 others, among them tourists and their Egyptian tour guides, were also injured in the incident and were taken to a hospital. The ministry added it was investigating the killings.
