New details are emerging in America’s latest serial-killer saga: An anonymous call to a Michigan State Police tip line revealed that a man who fit the description of someone wanted for assaults on 18 men in three states worked the night shift at a local party store. That man, Elias Abuelazam, had since fled the state, but was subsequently taken into custody while attempting to board a plane from Atlanta to Israel. Abdullah Farah, Abuelazam’s former boss, said it was a “big surprise” to find out about the arrest. “It’s such a shock,” Farah said. “He was so friendly to everyone. We had no indication.” Indication or not, many signs—and more than 450 leads residents telephoned to the tip line—suggest Abuelazam may have been behind the spree. According to police in Israel, Abuelazam’s masochistic mind-set wasn't limited to America, either: He is believed to have taken drugs and stabbed a friend during a recent trip to Israel.
