April Fools’ Day!
Ellen DeGeneres’s Best Pranks: Taylor Swift, J.Lo & More (VIDEO)
Just in time for April Fools’ Day, see the prank queen’s most memorable jokes on Taylor Swift and more.
Hollywood Tour Bus
When tourists in Los Angeles sign up for a Hollywood tour, they expect to see celebrity homes, landmarks, famous restaurants, hotels, and other notable locations. When Ellen DeGeneres takes over the bus, however, the innocent travelers get more than they bargained for.
What would happen if you inserted the mind of Ellen DeGeneres into the body of Jennifer Lopez? In this clip, we see just that, as Jennifer Lopez (a.k.a. J.Lo, a.k.a. Jenny From the Block) interviews candidates to become her personal assistant. The catch? Ellen is telling her exactly what to say through an earpiece.
Here’s what happens when Ellen tells Taylor Swift to go look at a picture of the two of them in her dressing room before an Ellen DeGeneres Show taping: Taylor obliges. Ellen hides. Ellen jumps out, and screaming ensues.
Dennis Quaid is admittedly one of Ellen’s favorite people, and because she loves him so much, she often pranks him when he visits her show. This time, it’s the actor who does the pranking. In this clip, Quaid (through an earpiece) directs Ellen during a taping of her show, making her doing a variety of hilarious things, including screaming bird calls at audience members.
“Does it have a greasy chain? That was my nickname in high school,” Jennifer Aniston tells a deliveryman who is dropping off a bike to her Ellen Show dressing room. Ellen, of course, is the mastermind behind Aniston’s dialogue with the young man, directing her through an earpiece. The actress even has the deliveryman scratch her back as she kicks her leg up in the air like a dog.
Only Ellen could get soccer superstar David Beckham to dress up like a Target employee named Ricky and make him try to sell people cologne. “I’ll spray it on my leg and you can smell it,” he offers.
Sofia Vergara from Modern Family is known for her over-the-top extroverted personality. In this hidden-camera spectacle, Ellen has the actress act completely somber, complaining to employees at a video store about a fictional movie she’s filming, When Dogs Are Running and Horses Are Silent.
At the mercy of Ellen’s earpiece, Heidi Klum must fulfill her every wish. Walking into a Warner Brothers store, the model is forced to put on as many items of clothing as she can in 30 seconds, then grab a random shopper and yell, “Hug attack!” (Instead she accidentally screams, “Heart attack!”)
Kristin Chenoweth goes unnoticed when she walks into a gym on the Warner Brothers lot. That all changes when Ellen, via earpiece, has her shout, “I smell eggplant!”
Sometimes timing is everything. In this clip, Ellen chats with guest Selena Gomez about how fun it would be to team up and prank fellow singer Taylor Swift. Little does Gomez know that she’s about to get pranked herself.
In the spirit of Taylor Swift’s infamous Ellen Show prank, Katie Holmes also gets the jump-out-of-your-skin treatment when Ellen hides, waiting to make her appearance, in the actress’s dressing room.
