A group of at least 50 evangelical conservative leaders, led by Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, have reportedly pledged to collectively endorse Ted Cruz for the Republican presidential nomination. The National Review reported Tuesday that Perkins and the group met earlier this month to decide on a candidate—with an initial vote failing to give Cruz the required supermajority for a binding vote. But after some praying and re-voting, Cruz's backers siphoned votes away from the Rubio crowd to achieve a supermajority. Members are expected to roll out their endorsements in coming months.
