A federal official said on Saturday that the shooter at the San Antonio-Lackland Air Force base was a former FBI agent who later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was identified as Tech. Sgt. Steven D. Bellino and he shot and killed Lt. Col. William A. Schroeder before shooting himself. Bellino was an FBI agent for less than two years, according to an official, before enlisting in the Air Force. Authorities do not know at this time why Schroeder was the target. Bellino joined the Air Force in June 2015 and was a student with the 342nd Training Squadron, which provided training in combat control, explosive ordinance disposal and various other skills.
