Labour party veteran and ex-mayor of London Ken Livingstone blamed former prime minister Tony Blair for a series of bombings in London in 2005, arguing that the terrorists who killed 52 Londoners were “giving their lives” in retaliation for Britain’s invasion of Iraq. During a debate on BBC1’s Question Time, Livingstone argued, “They gave their lives. They said what they believed. They took Londoners’ lives in protest against our invasion of Iraq…We were lied to by Tony Blair about Iraq. There were no weapons of mass destruction.”
