It appears heroin may have played a role in the death of the two former Navy SEALs aboard the “Captain Phillips” ship, the Maersk Alabama. A security officer found Jeffrey Reynolds and Mark Kennedy dead on Feb. 18, the latter with a syringe in his arm and brown powder heroin in the room. While guarding the ship in the Seychelles, the men reportedly went out at night, checking out casinos and drinking vodka and tequila with New Zealand sailors. Surveillance video from 12 hours before they were found dead shows them escorting two women down a dark corrider. Family and friends now say the two struggled with the boredom after their distinguished and grueling naval careers, which may have been the ultimate factor in their deaths.
