Says advocates believe she has a case.
Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke told The Daily Beast Friday that she may sue conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh because he called her “slut” and a “prostitute” after she testified that health insurance companies should be required to cover contraception. “I’ve certainly been told I might have a case, but it’s not something I’ve made any decisions about at this point,” Fluke said. The possibility of a lawsuit over Limbaugh’s remarks was floated today by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney of New York, who said “we will be filing a slander suit against Rush Limbaugh. What he’s really trying to do is silence a young woman. It’s unfair, it’s un-American.” Maloney also suggested that Sybil Shainwald, a prominent women’s-rights attorney, would be the perfect counsel for the case.
But he's an entertainer, so he's allowed.
You know you've gone over the top when even Rick Santorum calls your comments "absurd." The conservative presidential candidate—and staunch opponent of President Obama's contraception mandate—brushed off Rush Limbaugh's now-infamous "slut" comment as "absurd." Limbaugh called a law-school student eager to advocate for employee coverage for birth control a "slut," a comment that has received significant backlash in the day since it was made. "He's being absurd, but that's, you know, an entertainer can be absurd," Santorum told Wolf Blitzer on Friday. "He's in a very different business than I am."

In return for receiving money to pay for contraception.
Earlier this week, Rush Limbaugh called Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” for supporting a requirement that health insurance cover contraception. But he took the insult a step further on his radio show on Thursday, saying that women who support the requirement should post videos online. “So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch,” Limbaugh said. In a statement also released on Thursday, Fluke said, “No woman deserves to be disrespected in this manner. This language is an attack on all women, and has been used throughout history to silence our voices.”

Why do women still have to fight for reproductive rights? After the public took advertisers to task over Rush Limbaugh's recent comments, the Speaker said now is the time to make the changes so 'nobody has to fight this fight again.'
No response to Fluke got more heat than actress Patricia Heaton's. See her barbs at Fluke—and her apology.
White House steps up assault on ‘slut’ attack as advertisers bail.
Plenty of liberal men, like Bill Maher, need to follow Rush Limbaugh and apologize to women.
