Federal authorities arrested the son-in-law of indicted former New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver for securities fraud, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Monday. Marcello Trebitsch, who is married to Silver’s daughter, has been charged with defrauding investors out of $7 million in a Ponzi scheme before it collapsed last December. The 37-year-old faces as much as 40 years in prison and $5.25 million in fines. The charges are not connected to the federal investigation into Silver, who is facing corruption charges and was forced to step down.
