A 15-year-old near Philadelphia was arrested last month for plotting an ISIS-inspired attack on Pope Francis, ABC News reports, citing law-enforcement officials. “The minor was inspired by [ISIS] and sought to conduct a detailed homeland attack, which included multiple attackers, firearms, and multiple explosives, targeting a foreign dignitary [the pope] at a high-profile event,” according to a joint FBI and Department of Homeland Security bulletin. Sources told ABC News the plans were not imminent and that there are questions about the teen’s mental health. Nonetheless, he has been charged with attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization.
