A firefighter in Houston may lose an eye after a man he was trying to pull out of a fire stabbed him. Police and firefighters responded to a call about a fire in a local business and acted quickly when they saw an unresponsive man inside, authorities said. But when Fire Capt. Kenneth Willingham tried to rescue the man, he was gouged in the eye with a pocket knife. Police said it took them about 30 minutes to remove the combative man from the building, where he may have been trespassing. The suspect, identified only as a 34-year-old, has been charged with first degree aggravated assault on a public servant.
