A Florida prosecutor who was suspended last week for controversial Facebook posts about the Orlando mass shooting has been fired, according to the Florida state attorney. Just hours after the attack, Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis posted incendiary remarks about Orlando on the social-media platform: “It is void of a single redeeming quality. It is a melting pot of 3rd world miscreants and ghetto thugs. It is void of culture.” He later called for all nightclubs in Orlando to be permanently shut down. State Attorney Jeff Ashton said the posts violated its social-media policy. “As a prosecutor in this community, Mr. Lewis has the responsibility of maintaining the public’s trust through the ability, and perceived ability, to exercise sound, unbiased judgment,” Ashton said.
