NATO said four service members were killed in two separate insurgent attacks in eastern and southern Afghanistan. The news comes after the single deadliest day so far in the decade-long war, when 30 U.S. and eight Afghan troops were killed by the Taliban as it shot down a Chinook helicopter during a raid on Saturday. U.S. communities, including the town of Virginia Beach, Virginia, are mourning the loss of the U.S. troops, most of them members of SEAL Team Six, the elite unit that killed Osama bin Laden in May. None of those who participated in the raid were on the helicopter. Meanwhile, in central Iraq Sunday morning, six civilians were killed and 14 others injured when four bombs were planted near homes in the town of Iskandariyah. Two children under 10 were among the dead.
