More tragic news: On Sunday, four U.S. troops were killed while fighting in the eastern and southern regions of Afghanistan. Insurgent attacks took three lives, while a homemade bomb killed another. According to the Associated Press, the number of international forces killed this month has now risen to 42, including 28 Americans. Former guerrilla commander Salaam Pahlawan, who had fought the Soviets in the 1980s, was killed when insurgents detonated a roadside bomb.
