A former nominee for teacher of the year is facing drug charges after police found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her Massachusetts home last week, officials said Sunday. Amanda Roche, a 27-year-old 4th-grade teacher at Pentucket Lake Elementary School was charged with possession and intent to distribute cocaine and possession of prescription, police said. The man she lives with about 30 miles north of Boston, Jim Alizee, was also arrested. Roche was nominated for teacher of the year last year, after working for Haverhill Public Schools for five years. She was suspended with pay, pending the investigation.
