If President Obama does anything these days, it seems to garner criticism from his detractors—including writing a children’s book. Several conservative media outlets, led by Fox News, have taken issue with Obama’s children’s book Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters, claiming the president appears to sing the praises of certain historical figures—including César Chávez, Georgia O'Keeffe, Sioux leader Sitting Bull, and Maya Lin—over others as role models for children. The book is written as if writing a letter to his children, with Obama asking, “Have I told you lately how wonderful you are?” before guiding two little girls—his daughters, Sasha and Malia—on a journey using the lives of famous Americans to describe good qualities of character.
