Vogue Paris has declared longtime fashion director Emmanuelle Alt new editor in chief of the magazine. Alt started at the magazine shortly before Carine Roitfeld took its helm in 2001. Though Le Figaro's Fashion Editor Virginie Mouzat was also in the running, Alt and Roitfeld's parallel careers and rise to fashion stardom may explain why Alt was the best candidate for the role. In the weeks since Roitfeld resigned, there's been much speculation as to why she left and who would take the place of Anna Wintour's French counterpart. On the magazine's website, Alt wrote that she was honored to be assuming the prestigious role and excited to build on the magazine's incredible potential.
