A Kentucky fugitive on the run for shooting a police officer was killed in an early Friday shootout with state troopers and a federal marshal. The manhunt for Floyd Ray Cook, 62, lasted nearly a week and wreaked havoc on parts of the Bluegrass State, shutting down schools and terrorizing communities. The search began when Cook fired at an officer during a traffic stop last Saturday. He was already wanted in Marion County because he didn’t register as a sex offender, following a rape conviction in the ’70s.
