Picasso in Your Palm
Phone apps are so useful these days—they can tell you what song is playing in a restaurant (Shazam), keep track of your day (Remember the Milk), and even tell you which subway door to exit from (Exit Strategy), but now there is an application out there that is useful for an ever-important subsect of society: people who buy art at Christie’s auctions. The new
Christie’s app will feature lots from over 450 auctions, explore how much art is selling for, and view upcoming sales. Unfortunately, one cannot yet bid directly on a Manet from the handheld device, but it’s only a matter of time until people are purchasing millions of dollars of work from the line at the grocery store.
