Love hurts, breakups hurt more, and the smell of your ex-boyfriend’s old T-shirt can make you want to break down and cry. Should you burn it? Sleep in it every night? Thanks to the Museum of Broken Relationships, heartbroken people everywhere can let go of letters, teddy bears, and other remnants of a failed romance without feeling they’re lost forever. An ax and furry pink handcuffs are two of more than 100 artifacts currently on display at London’s Tristane Bates Theatre. The museum’s home is in Croatia, where it was established in 2006, but founders Olinka Vištica and Drazen Grubiši have showcased its archives around the world. From Berlin to San Francisco, the traveling exhibits feature objects from the museum’s permanent collection along with donations from locals. A caption listing the relationship’s length and location lends context to every memento. From a beaten-up gnome statue to a pair of panties, see photos.
