As the holiday season approaches, The Daily Beast crunches the calories to figure out which pies will add the most to your waistline.
As we’ve pointed out time and again, the food at some of the country’s most popular chain restaurants is just as bad—if not worse—than the more oft-criticized fare from fast food joints. Pasta served by the pound, breakfast offerings with enough fat for all three meals, and heart-stopping choices for every course—to wit, a slice of Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie from Chili’s is the equivalent of five apple pies from McDonald’s.
To figure out which pies are the worst on current menus, The Daily Beast considered the nutrition facts of dessert pies at large, national chain restaurants. All nutritional data are based on information listed by the eateries. They were ranked based on calories, saturated fat, and carbohydrates. Then the ranks were totaled to determine the final standing. Ties were broken by calorie content.
