Beyoncé Welcomes Baby Girl (PHOTOS)

It's only January, but the celebrity baby of the year has already arrived. Beyoncé gave birth to her first child in a New York City hospital via C-section Saturday night. Proud dad Shawn Carter, a.k.a. Jay-Z, was there as well. The couple named her Ivy Blue Carter or Blue Ivy Carter—reports differ on the order.

When she introduced the world to her baby bump at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, an Internet meme was born. “Pregnant Beyoncé” and “Babyonce” became instant trending topics. Several sites tried to guess what she and her husband, Jay-Z, would name the child. (“Brooklyn,” and “Destiny” lead the pack.) Then, everyone freaked out when Beyoncé appeared in an interview with an Australian TV show and her baby bump appeared to deflate on camera. But despite the frenzy, Beyoncé spent the fall hoofing it around New York in $2,000 booties, making the rounds during New York Fashion Week and—this being Beyoncé—never giving up on sequins.
