Valentine’s Day romance may come only once a year, but The Daily Beast analyzes the statistics to discover which cities get it on without the help of Cupid’s bow. This Feb. 14, we give you the hottest cities for making whoopee.
Valentine’s Day is not a stress-free holiday, what with the considerations required for everything from the correct chocolate-and-wine pairing to the best way to ensure a heated kiss. But romance may come easier to residents of certain corners of the country. According to statistics, those living south of the Mason-Dixon line or west of the Mississippi have the most active lives between the sheets. We should know, we studied the data.
To find the horniest cities, The Daily Beast first turned to Experian Simmons, a leading consumer-research firm, for statistics on use of condoms and personal lubricants for more than 200 metro areas. We also considered the fertility rate for these cities, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Lastly, Babeland, one of the largest adult-toy retailers in the country, provided the top 20 cities by sales in 2011. Condom use, personal lubricant use, and fertility rate were each weighted equally as 30 percent of each city’s final score, with Babeland sales rank making up the final 10 percent. (Where there were no data provided, we used only the first three qualifiers.) The results? If you’re looking for a quickie, then mess with Texas.
