Not so Square
Prince Charles, the male fashion plate of the British Royal Family, shows the British way to wear a pocket square, ie, not square, but with a rakish crumple. Note how the shade on his pocket square co-ordinates with the buttonhole and the pale stripe on the tie. Nice work.
Charles handkerchiefs, which are monogrammed, are all hand-washed, as it was found that when they were sent to a laundry, some would go missing — taken as souvenirs.
Charles has three personal valets — gentleman’s gentlemen — whose main responsibility is the care of their royal master’s extensive wardrobe and choosing what he is to wear on any particular day. One of his former valets, Michael Fawcett, was charged with loading toothpaste onto the royal toothbrush.
