Derek Jeter

Even beloved Yankee Derek Jeter is not immune from the New York Post’s mean headlines. The tabloid fat-shamed the captain this week with a front page declaring him “Derek Eater” after a pudgy-looking Jeter was photographed in South Beach, where he is rehabbing an injury from October. “The ankle we knew about,” the Post quipped. “The gut, not so much.” But the team’s general manager, Brian Cashman, defended his once-svelte shortstop: “You’re not gonna find anyone more committed to being the best he can be than Derek Jeter,” Cashman told the paper.

Gerard Depardieu

More than 30 years after his breakthrough role in The Last Metro, Gerard Depardieu was arrested this week on a different mode of transportation—driving his scooter in Paris while drunk. Even more shocking than his arrest was how far the one-time French sex symbol had let himself go. Then again, perhaps it’s all preparation for his next role: piggish former IMF chairman Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

Val Kilmer

Has the Ice Man been spending too much time with the ice cream man? Twenty-five years after he played shirtless volleyball with Tom Cruise in Top Gun, Val Kilmer is now sporting a top gut. The 52-year-old actor, who once looked lean and mean in the Batman suit, is now sporting a big white one onstage—where he plays Mark Twain in a one-man show.

Kevin Federline

Years after he became famous as Britney Spears’s backup dancer-turned-husband, Kevin Federline became a punch line for his paunch line. In 2010, the Daily Mail joked that he was “looking more well-fed than K-Fed.” Federline tried to fight back—he became a contestant on Celebrity Fit Club—but 34-year-old father of Spears’s sons appears to be losing his battle of the bulge.

Steven Seagal

When he burst onto the action movie scene in 1988’s Above the Law, Steven Seagal was a lean, mean, fighting machine. Nearly 25 years later, Seagal’s considerably fuller figure has kept pace with his expanding hairline.

Jonah Hill

In 2011, actor Jonah Hill famously went from chunk to hunk when he lost 40 pounds because he “”thought it was important to be healthier.” As he told the Los Angeles Times, “I wouldn’t say it’s the most fun endeavor I’ve ever took on in my life—but it’s important.” And difficult to maintain. In the past few months the 28-year-old Hill appears to have reverted back to his heavy ways.

Jack Nicholson

Over the years, as Jack Nicholson’s hair got thinner, his waistline got thicker. But that has never stopped the two-time Oscar winner from enjoying the company of beautiful women. In 2008, Nicholson went topless in St. Barts with several young women in bikinis. But the 75-year-old actor just doesn’t feel that sexy anymore. “There were points in my life where I felt oddly irresistible to women,” he admitted last year. “I’m not in that state now and that makes me sad.”

Kris Kringle

Was it all the cookies children leave by the fireplace? Or just stress eating from having to deliver all those presents in one night? Either way, Santa Claus may be fat, but at least he’s jolly.
