Not so fast.
After the Chicago Cubs tied up the World Series at a game apiece with a resounding 5-1 win over the Cleveland Indians in game 2, momentum seemed to be building for Joe Maddon’s squad.
Then came game 3, the first World Series game to be played at Wrigley Field since 1945.
The Cubs simply couldn’t get anything going in the first championship game played at their home stadium in 71 years. One run was all the scoring the Indians would need to win the ballgame, as the Cubs could not produce a single run from their five hits.
With Cleveland up in the series 2-1, game 4 between the two snakebitten franchises continues Saturday at Wrigley field in Chicago.
Indians ace Corey Kluber is expected to start game 4 for Cleveland on short rest, while John Lackey will pitch for the Cubs.
