A gang of criminals in Mexico's turbulent state of Michoacan brought down an official helicopter during a police operation Tuesday, killing the pilot and three police officers. Governor Silvano Aureoles announced the news on Twitter, saying that the helicopter was involved in an operation to arrest leaders of a criminal gang when it was "brought down" by a gang in Apatzingan. He did not specify how the helicopter was shot down. In addition to four dead, another police officer was injured in the crash. This is the second time criminals have managed to down an official helicopter in Mexico. In 2015, a drug cartel in Jalisco shot down a military helicopter using a rocket launcher.
