The San Francisco Giants drew first blood in their National League Championship Series with the Philadelphia Phillies, edging Game 1, 4-3. The Phillies’ Roy Halladay could not match the level that carried him to a no-hitter in the NLDS, while the Giants’ Tim Lincecum allowed three runs in seven innings of work. But instead of booing Lincecum, the hometown Philadelphia fans whistled at him, presumably making fun of his long shaggy hair. "I must have a really nice butt," he said. "I was hearing a lot of them." In Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, the Rangers built a large lead over the New York Yankees and held it this time—after blowing a 5-0 advantage in Game 1—to win 7-2. It was the Rangers first playoff victory at home. That series is now level at 1-1.
