Here’s some good news: A doctor treating Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords said her condition is “quite remarkable and better than we expected.” Giffords, shot in the head during Jared Loughner’s shooting rampage in Tucson in January, is “already speaking in full sentences” and walking, said Dr. Dong Kim. She’s also demonstrating “a good memory span.” Apparently her husband’s decision to continue as mission commander on the final launch of the space shuttle Endeavor next month was made with her support, and Giffords will attend the launch on April 19. Giffords, however, has no memory of the shooting. Her husband told her that she had been shot.
