Vitaly Borker, the online eyeglass salesman who was able to climb Google results by bullying his customers, has been arrested. He’s been charged with cyberstalking, making interstate threats, and mail and wire fraud. His strategy for DecorMyEyes.com was to bully his customers into giving him negative reviews; because Google’s engine did not distinguish between positive and negative reviews, he became one of the first hits for eyeglass shoppers. Google has since tweaked its algorithm to knock him down.
