Go spend the next few minutes on Google. Back? OK, here goes: the Google Doodle on Monday is an elaborate animated tribute to Maurice Sendak, the children’s book author of Where the Wild Things Are. Sendak died on May 8, 2012, and Monday would have been his 85th birthday. The elaborate animation features Max from Where the Wild Things Are, then moves on to show Mickey and the three bakers from In the Night Kitchen, and then the final set of characters are from 2005’s Bumble-Ardy. As usual, a quote from the Wild Things can best sum up the situation: “Oh please don’t go—we’ll eat you up—we love you so!” Happy birthday.
