A Google-backed high-speed Internet cable connecting the the U.S. to Japan will cost $300 million. The project, supported by a number of telecommunications companies, is called FASTER and will bring a high-quality cable to two landing ports in Japan from major West Coast cities in the U.S. “FASTER will make the Internet, well, faster and more reliable for our users in Asia,” the Google VP for technical infrastructure said.
