A Georgia state senator and Republican gubernatorial candidate announced that he will give away a bump stock “in solidarity with gun owners across the nation” who oppose the regulation or banning of the firearm accessory. Bump stocks, which helped modify the weapons used to kill 59 people and injure hundreds more in a Las Vegas massacre this month, allow semi-automatic weapons to fire like a fully automatic weapon. In a Facebook post, Sen. Michael Williams said that since bump stocks are not mechanical, they do not fall under the machine gun weapons ban of 1986 and banning them would be “an attack on the Second Amendment.”
