Republican congressman Don Young left parents, teachers, and students at Wasilla High School in Alaska in shock on Tuesday. According to people in attendance, Young, 81, blamed a recent suicide by a student on a lack of support from his friends and family. “He had friends. He had support,” a student responded, adding it was because of a mental illness. Young shot back: “Well, what, do you just go to the doctor and get diagnosed with suicide?” He also reportedly used words like “asshole” and “smartass” in his Q&A session. “In no way did Congressman Young mean to upset anyone with his well-intentioned message," a spokesman said. “In light of the tragic events affecting the Wasilla High School community, he should have taken a much more sensitive approach.” When Young was asked why same-sex marriage was “so bad in your eyes?” Young responded, “You can’t have marriage with two men. What do you get with two bulls?”
