Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor convicted of killing three babies, has been sentenced to life in prison. The 72-year-old Gosnell gave up his right to appeal his conviction in exchange for being spared the death penalty. Gosnell, who was convicted yesterday, delivered babies alive and then cut their spinal cords with scissors. Gosnell was arrested two years ago, when police raided his clinic looking for evidence of prescription drug trafficking and found fetuses in bottles and severed feet in jars.
