Grammy-winning gospel singer Andrae Crouch died Thursday, according to his representative. The 72-year-old died from complications at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack on Saturday, Brian Mayes said. "Today my twin brother, womb-mate and best friend went hom to be with the Lord," his twin sister, Sandra Couch, said in a statement. Crouch was known for his work as a singer, composer and also worked as a producer for artists including Michael Jackson, Elton John, Diana Ross and Madonna. He was a former member of the group the Disciples, which won several Grammy awards in 1978. He took over his father's church as pastor in the mid-1990s and renamed it the New Christ Memorial Church. Crouch won five Grammys, had a Gold Record for "Jesus Is The Answer," was the Soul Gospel Artist for Billboard magazine in 1975 and 1977 and won a Dove award in 1978. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Association's Hall of Fame in Nashville in 1998.
