Actress and comedienne Kathy Griffin says she was interested in taking over for Craig Ferguson as host of the Late Late Show but CBS, noting her lack of a penis, found her unsatisfactory. Griffin told the Associated Press that after expressing interest to a CBS executive, she was immediately rejected and told, “They’re not considering females at this time.” Griffin says she told another executive that the lack of female hosts in the late-night sphere is “embarrassing” but was told, “Well, you [women] have The Talk.” CBS has said it is currently “checking internally regarding a comment and the validity of the story.” The job of hosting the Late Late Show went to British comedian James Corden earlier this month.
