A former Los Angeles garbage truck driver was found guilty of the “Grim Sleeper” serial murders that gripped the city for more than 20 years. Lonnie David Franklin, Jr., was convicted Thursday of killing nine women and a 15-year-old girl between 1985 and 2007. Prosecutors said Franklin, 64, stalked young black women before shooting or strangling them, and then dumping their bodies. He was dubbed the Grim Sleeper due to the apparent 14-year gap in attacks attributed to him. Franklin was found guilty after a two-month trial at Los Angeles County Superior Court. Franklin was also convicted of attempted murder of another victim who survived being shot, raped, and pushed out of a car in 1988. He could face the death penalty.
