A Filipino blacksmith's son was declared the world's shortest man on his 18th birthday by Guinness World Records. At 23.5 inches, Junrey Balawing deposes Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is 26.4 inches tall. Balawing stopped growing shortly after his birth, but no one is sure why. His family withdrew him from school after he distracted the other children. "Although he's short, he takes that in stride," said the Guinness representative who presented Balawing with the record. "He has this cheeky smile."
