A sightseeing helicopter made an emergency landing in New York City’s Hudson River on Sunday—and miraculously, all four passengers and the pilot made it alive. The aircraft lost its engine power and was forced to make the emergency landing just before noon, near Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The pilot and the passengers, who were Swedish tourists, activated lifeboats stored on board, and civilian boaters, NYPD Harbor and Aviation, and FDNY rescuers showed up shortly afterward. “Ten feet above water, and it just went down,” said witness William Parra. “There was a huge splash.”
